This book is a disappointment, especially when compared to the first。 The first felt like a good brain candy read。 This one’s whole premise was just misunderstanding after misunderstanding and lack of communication。 Persephone went from being a fun character to kind of bratty,。 While her issues in the story were understandable how she goes about them is tiring。All in all, after such a good start with touch of darkness, the second book being based so much in petty arguments and misunderstandings This book is a disappointment, especially when compared to the first。 The first felt like a good brain candy read。 This one’s whole premise was just misunderstanding after misunderstanding and lack of communication。 Persephone went from being a fun character to kind of bratty,。 While her issues in the story were understandable how she goes about them is tiring。All in all, after such a good start with touch of darkness, the second book being based so much in petty arguments and misunderstandings was more of a disappointment then anything else。 。。。more

A little lackluster following A Touch of Darkness, but still good!

Classic case of "the first book was better"I'm not quite sure why I didn't like this one as much as A Touch of Darkness。 Some parts felt rushed, Persephone was pretty stupid every now and then, and Hades was just。。。 there? I could have lived with any of these things, but maybe it was the way all of them came together that made me enjoy this book less than the first one。 Not sure。 I'm also not sure if I want to read the third one right away or not。 Classic case of "the first book was better"I'm not quite sure why I didn't like this one as much as A Touch of Darkness。 Some parts felt rushed, Persephone was pretty stupid every now and then, and Hades was just。。。 there? 3。5 stars: I surprisingly liked this one better than the first book in this series! This book had more depth to the tensions in this book than the first one。 I will read the third in this trilogy, and look forward to doing so!

Things I liked about this book: Hades, Hermes, Hecate, Zofie, Lexa, Sybil and maybe even where things are going with ApolloThings I didn’t like about this book: PersephoneI can suspend disbelief quite a bit when reading, but Persephone was the most annoying, childish character I have ever read about。 She continually makes stupid decisions and acts only in a way that benefits her and has virtually no consequences。 I loved book one and Persephone became less irritating at the end of the book, so I Things I liked about this book: Hades, Hermes, Hecate, Zofie, Lexa, Sybil and maybe even where things are going with ApolloThings I didn’t like about this book: PersephoneI can suspend disbelief quite a bit when reading, but Persephone was the most annoying, childish character I have ever read about。 She continually makes stupid decisions and acts only in a way that benefits her and has virtually no consequences。 I loved book one and Persephone became less irritating at the end of the book, so I’m hoping the third book is better in that regard。Hades made this book for me。 He’s up there with one of my fav romance heroes and being someone that loves Greek mythology, I really like Scarlett St-Clair’s spin on things。 I will definitely read Hades books and likely book 3, I just need a break from Persephone。 。。。more

2。5 starsThe things I hoped would improve from book one to book two didn't。 The chemistry between H & P, to me, seemed to fizzle out。 All problems were either ignored or magically fixed with a bout of makeup sex。 It's a fantasy book and shouldn't be realistic but the characters read flat to me, I grew to dislike them, and all the side characters I loved hid in the shadows。 My hopes were high and they got dashed during this second installment。 If you loved the first one, you'll enjoy this more th 2。5 starsThe things I hoped would improve from book one to book two didn't。 The chemistry between H & P, to me, seemed to fizzle out。 All problems were either ignored or magically fixed with a bout of makeup sex。 It's a fantasy book and shouldn't be realistic but the characters read flat to me, I grew to dislike them, and all the side characters I loved hid in the shadows。 My hopes were high and they got dashed during this second installment。 If you loved the first one, you'll enjoy this more than I did。 If you liked book one, I would recommend borrowing this title (or just skip it--you won't miss much)。 。。。more

Again I’m a big fan of Hermes and Hecate, and even Apollo grew on me。 I felt like too many additional characters were added with no real purpose, and the plot was sort of。。。meh。。。most of the way through。 It did wrap up well。 Not sure the series needs to continue/that I will keep reading。

Really… I thought the better plot twist was what her mum was doing to her but no, that was like a side plot twist。Hades sort of just shows up whenever Persephone is in trouble or horny 🤡 I get it… he likes to punish her and save her 🙄 ✨A lot✨Sephy could have been a bit more interesting but she fell flat for me, I liked her wanting to have her own independence and everything after her mum kept her trapped etc but… she was kinda annoying in this book。 Time to time I was trying to justify her thoughts and actions but She sounded so childish sometimes 😭😭🤌🏽Hades could have been such an interesting character but he just exists for Persephone and I despise books that do that to male and female characters, it’s so boring。 Hades was basically her sex bot😭😂Their romance was soooo boring。They literally argue because he kept something from her, screw each other and she accuses him of something and the cycle goes on and on for however many pages 🥲I saw reviews placing all the blame on sephy with everything going wrong but … if hades had the brain cells to just be honest with her and tell her what’s going the hell on, it would have been a better read。 Instead the author uses the excuse that men are stupid for why hades isn’t communicating etc 🤭 bestie no, that’s not good enough, i rolled my eyes every-time that excuse came up and I only got half way through the book 😂😂Anyways… if you liked it good for you。 Each to their own。 I couldn’t stand this book 😂😂 。。。more

THIS BOOK GAVE ME EMOTIONAL WHIPLASH。 FUCK。 I haven’t been this DISTRAUGHT reading a book in forever。 I was gripped from the first page。 The fucking CHOKEHOLD Scarlet St Clair’s version of Hades has on me is ridiculous。 Really enjoyed the exploration of more of the complexities of Hades and Persephone’s relationship, and seeing Hades more vulnerable。 So many quotes from this book had me swooooooning。 I love this series with all my heart。

Ok so I could NOT put this book down…it was amazing。 The only reason why I‘m only giving 4 stars is because the miscommunication was just sooo annoying that I felt so frustrated。 And Persephone was a little stupid in some situation But still freaking loved it

Their were a lot of beautiful moments but unfortunately the bad stuck out more。。 。。。more

Fine, but Persephone was very annoying。 She constantly made bad decisions。 And a lot of her strife with hades would be solved if she just communicated, which is something she keeps demanding of Hades。 This book is just a big miscommunication trope。 The first one was better。

As soon as I finished A Touch of Darkness, I immediately went and started reading it's sequel, A Touch of Ruin。 I think my favorite part about this book is that Hades and Persephone's relationship isn't just an easy happily ever after, despite being made for each other, they have issues。 They argue。 There's jealousy。 Lies。 Broken promises。 It's just so realistic, in a dramatic, Olympian God's sort of way。 Of course there's still that new-relationship heat between the two - this book did not skim As soon as I finished A Touch of Darkness, I immediately went and started reading it's sequel, A Touch of Ruin。 I think my favorite part about this book is that Hades and Persephone's relationship isn't just an easy happily ever after, despite being made for each other, they have issues。 They argue。 There's jealousy。 Lies。 Broken promises。 It's just so realistic, in a dramatic, Olympian God's sort of way。 Of course there's still that new-relationship heat between the two - this book did not skimp on the spice - but also the not understanding each others communication styles and love languages, and quite a bit of miscommunication in general that is so normal in newer relationships (which I know is a trope a lot of people hate, but I actually really like it because I think when things come too easily, it gets boring。) There were still plenty of concepts from the first book brought into this one that I loved, night club scenes, making deals with God's, black mail, meaningful friendship's。 We also saw real loss (that made me cry,) there's a bit of a Monkey's Paw reference, too, which was a great plot device, complex relationships with Hades' ex, a look into what it's like to be in the limelight for Persephone, and plenty of Mommy issues with Demeter。 The ending is such a bomb, too, I'm so glad that the next one is out already。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I really wanted to enjoy the second book more than the first but honestly, Persephone is so frustrating in this one that it really ruined the vibe for me。 Plus, there is no real plot here。 It's basically Persephone going against Hades and others over and over again。 I understand she is somewhat new to the mortal world, but you'd think that would make you listen to what people have to say because you don't know any better, not ignore what they have to say and assume you know best。 She's also imma I really wanted to enjoy the second book more than the first but honestly, Persephone is so frustrating in this one that it really ruined the vibe for me。 Plus, there is no real plot here。 It's basically Persephone going against Hades and others over and over again。 I understand she is somewhat new to the mortal world, but you'd think that would make you listen to what people have to say because you don't know any better, not ignore what they have to say and assume you know best。 She's also immature, admitting to Hades that she posted the article about Apollo to hurt him。 She turns to Apollo for help after she went on and on about him hurting her friend - hypocrite much? Says she didn't think the fates would come after her for saving her friend, when Hades told her over and over that they would。 Makes a decision because she thinks its best then feels bad afterwards because it clearly, CLEARLY wasn't。 She listens to her mother who has lied to her for her whole life - who does that?! Says that Hades doesn't need to know where she is or what she does but then demands that she knows where he is, what he does or what he has done。 Again, hypocrite。 I've never met such an annoying character before。 Honestly her decisions were predictable and frustrating。 Maybe this book is meant to be about lessons learnt?? I don't know, but it was beyond annoying。 I also found it pretty sad that she got so upset that Hades has had previous lovers。 The guy is thousands upon thousands of years old。 Of course he has lovers。 You should know that and should not judge because it is selfish。 Maybe its because he was her first? I don't know, but I found her reaction to be completely unfair。 AND where was Hades in the book? He would literally show up for sex and to rescue her。 That is all。 I will point out that it is mentioned in the book that A) Persephone has insecurity issues because of her mother so maybe that is why she rebelled against everyone and B) she has never lost anyone before so maybe that is why she went against Hades to save her friend without listening to his warnings? So yeah maybe it is a book about facing your inner demons and accepting who you are and having to learn things the hard way because you had a bad upbringing。 That could very well be why this book is the way it is, which is why I give it a 3 because it was not executed well (if that is the meaning behind it all)Its not all bad I guess。 I found the death of her friend to be very sad。 I got a bit emotional when she took her own life。 The secondary characters are very fun and enjoyable。 I especially enjoy Hermis and Hecati。 The smut is good。 I listened to the audio and I must say, Meg Sylvan, did a fantastic job。 5 stars for the audio! The world building was ok。 If this book had a plot, a character that wasn't so selfish and inconsiderate and had more Hades then I probably would have enjoyed it much more。Then the ending came and dare I admit I want to know what happens next! So yep, I will still read Book 3 and HOPEFULLY we see some character growth there。 。。。more
